The Parent/Child Connection Coalition
of New Hampton Iowa is a community-wide parent and child education
program. The Parent/Child Connection Coalition is based on the
belief that a large segment of the population with school-aged
children has a need and an interest in learning effective
parenting and nurturing skills. The purpose of the parent and
child education sessions is to enhance parenting skill and foster
positive family interactions.
The Parent/Child Connection Coalition
has been sponsoring parent and
child education sessions since the 1996-97 school year. The
program is designed to: Enhance
and strengthen parenting skills by arming parent and child
with information and strategies to apply
in their daily lives, Foster positive family
communication and interactions, Involve children in
learning about themselves in a holistic sense, Strengthen and support
area parents and family members in their roles.
One of the most unique features of the Parent/Child Connection
Coalition is that the organization is made available to parents in
the area through the combined efforts of St. Joseph Catholic
School, Mercy Medical Center, the New Hampton Community School
District and EAGLE Project.
